The biggest IKEA store in the region is to be launched during the second quarter of 2018 in Bahrain's Salmabad. The construction on the Bahrain outlet is already under way.
US-based DIY retailer Do it Best Corp signed an agreement with Attken International, part of Saudi Arabia-based Albawardi Group. The new partnership will open the first Attken do It Best in the eastern province of Dammam at the end of May. The company will sell hardware, lumber and building materials and is planning to open three stores per year throughout Saudi Arabia.
Swedish retail giant IKEA, part of Al-Futtaim Group, has plans to open its second store in Dubai in the next two years. Despite the challenging economic climate, the Middle East remains an important market, with double-digit growth in sales across the UAE, Qatar, Egypt and Oman.
UK-based John Lewis, Britain's largest department store group, will open an outlet in the Dubai Festival City Mall next year, hereby entering the Middle East market. The opening of the Dubai branch is part of its global expansion strategy.
Dubai-headquartered brand Home Centre celebrates its 20th anniversary. As part of the celebrations, the largest Middle East home retailer unveiled plans to expand through the addition of over 50 new stores over the next five years.
